Me and Sugarcult
10/6/01 Q101 Rock Block We got their around a 1/2 hour before they played, and wandered around. After stopping by the merch. booth and getting a T-shirt and finding the stickers that were being handed out for free (I've got atleast ten left), we stood, waiting for Sugarcult to come on. The concert went by, and each song Tim sang sounded better than the last. All the while, the crowds was throwing peanuts (also free), flipping the world off, and crowd surfing. I'll never forget the middle finger wave. It will catch on someday. After Tim set up the make-out party on stage, they finished out their set. They packed up and hit their merch. table, and I got autographs (no pictures for lack of camera). It was a great time, if it wasn't so cold. What a way to be introduced to Chicago. In all, I can't wait until the next show, I'll be first in line to get tickets. Next time, they'll be headliners though.
07/24/02 Warped Tour Milwaukee, Wisconsin This show was amazing. I arrived at 2 or so. Slightly late to avoid the huge crowd. While I missed half the set of another great band their (the Used, check them out, they are amazing) I was thrilled to hear that Sugarcult wasn't playing until 7:10. As we walked around the lot we came upon the Sugarcult merch. booth. Once again, all of the guys where at the booth, selling things, signing autographs, and taking pictures. It is amazing to me that they still do this for their fans and just add to my fondness of them ten times more. So, after making multiple stops at the booth, and spending to much money (atleast it was a good cause) 7 came around all to quickly. Because the entire day was spent standing, we found some seats, not that far from the stage but not extremely close either. They came on to play their set and completely rocked. Every song sound as good if not better than on the cd. People were stage diving, moshing, though whole "punk show" thing. Insanely great, I loved the entire day and their show brought it to the greatest conclusion. I can't wait to see them live again, hopefully sooner than later.
9-21-02 Tower Records In Store This was a fantastic show! Available at the store was their dvd (set for release october 8th) in a package deal for 1 penny with the purchase of their cd for . They also had their merch. booth set up with free stickers, and some of the t-shirts, pins and patches. After waiting in line outside the store for about 2 hours, we finally got ushered into the small but not over filled concert space. They came on and rocked! They played the basics, 'Saying Goodbye', 'Stuck In America', 'Bouncing of the Walls', 'Pretty Girl (the way)', 'Hate Every Beautiful Day' and 'Debbie'. To my delite, they also played 'Killing Me' and 'I Wanna Be Sedated', both which I haven't heard live until then. After their amazing set, we we're ushered back outside to wait in line for the meet and greet. Luckly I met up with some message board people and stood with them in line. (Thanks again, you guys were awesome, can't wait til I see you again at the next show). This really proves how great message boards are, I hope to get one on my site soon. So, after waiting in line it finally came. We had them sign the "share the love" shirts we made. They loved the shirts. They thanked us for our support and Airin gave me a hug!!! Then I had to go to allow the next people in line the same pleasure I had just had. It was an amazing night. Everyone should go see them live for a great time (and if anyone doesn't have the cd, buy it already, you won't be sorry!). I'm ecstatic about the November 8th show at the Metro. Hope to see you all there and check back for another story of another great concert!
11-8-02 @ The Metro
Another amazing show. To truly tell the story of the show correctly, I must give you some information. This was a Friday, and the entire day before the show was absolutely horrible. Nothing was going well, I felt like crap. I had tests etc. to make up because I had been sick two days that week. I was getting quite aggrivated with the entire day. Finally, it was time to go to the concert. Well, traffic was a bitch and we ended up getting there late and missing Rufio's proformance (sorry Rufio, I'm sure you guy's rocked). Autopilot Off came on. They're pretty good, but my head hurt and the overly loud distortion didn't help. Then my friend and I got pictures with Tim and Ben while they were hanging by the RV. That was cool but we didn't get to talk to them at all cause they had to go on soon, etc. So, then we went back up to the main floor and waiting for Sugarcult's grand enterance. They came on, but for some reason I wasn't feeling as into it as I have been, could I have become as ADD as the average person and lost interested in this amazing band? Hell no, when they played Hate Every Beautiful Day, everything was all better. Another awesome show (I really enjoyed Tim's version of 'hot in here' intermixed with Pretty Girl). After they finished playing, we stayed for some of the Ataris set but soon left, and on our way out who did we run into but Marko. We got pictures and the "sugarcult virgins" I went to the show with got autographs and then we headed home. Can't wait for another show I can go to and hope to see you all there!
